Newport Beach living happens outdoors as much as it happens inside. Between backyard get-togethers near Balboa Island, poolside afternoons in Newport Coast, and evenings on a patio just steps from the harbor, a pass-through window gives the counter between your kitchen and patio an actual job to do. Instead of walking food and drinks around a solid wall, you hand them straight through the opening.
OpenUp® pass-through windows work in homes and businesses across Newport Beach, from beachfront kitchens on the Peninsula to outdoor bars and pool houses further inland. The minimalist frame keeps sightlines open, so even with the window shut, you still get a clear, wide view of the water, the yard, or the deck beyond it.
A pass-through window turns the counter between your kitchen and outdoor area into a working serving station instead of a barrier. Open it up, and plates, glasses, and platters move straight through without a detour around the house. Close it, and the wide glass area still keeps the two spaces visually connected.
OpenUp® pass-through windows can connect:
● A kitchen and patio
● A kitchen and outdoor bar
● A pool house and outdoor area
● Two indoor rooms
● A home or business serving area
Every OpenUp® pass-through window uses a 1-inch insulated glass unit with two 3/16-inch tempered glass panes and a 5/8-inch space between them. This helps provide better insulation than a single pane of glass.
For even better insulation, the space can be filled with Argon gas instead of air. Low-E coatings and laminated glass are also available. For sunny climates, OpenUp® recommends its triple-silver soft coating to help reduce solar heat gain while maintaining natural light.
OpenUp Windows combines a wide pass-through opening with durable materials, custom sizing, and several operating options.
OpenUp® pass-through windows open up a real connection between indoor and outdoor living, which matters in a city where patios, pool decks, and backyard entertaining are part of daily life, not just a weekend activity.
Custom aluminum extrusions and narrow sightlines provide 33% more view when the window is closed. In a Newport Beach home facing the water or a landscaped yard, that extra glass means more of the view stays visible even with the window closed.
The frame pairs structural extruded aluminum on the outside with Accoya® wood on the inside. The aluminum is part of the window’s structural system rather than a thin layer wrapped around a wood frame. This hybrid construction combines structural aluminum on the exterior with Accoya® wood on the interior.
Accoya® is a high-performance modified wood known for dimensional stability, durability, and strong paint retention. It is sustainably sourced and used on the interior of OpenUp®’s hybrid window system.
A fixed screen would get in the way of an opening you actually want to use often. OpenUp® offers a retractable Pleated Screen instead, so it stays tucked out of sight until you need it.
Lower the screen when you want the opening covered against flying insects. Move it aside when you want the full opening free for passing food, drinks, or anything else through. When ordered with the window, it arrives factory-mounted, in a frame available in painted white or black.
OpenUp® carries several standard pass-through window sizes through its online product collection, and windows can also be built to match specific project dimensions.
Measure both the interior and exterior sides before ordering, and check for differences between the indoor floor, countertop, and outdoor surface when working out the rough opening. For project-specific sizing requirements, follow OpenUp®’s technical specifications or confirm the dimensions with the Customer Service team.
OpenUp® builds each window on a hybrid framing system, with structural extruded aluminum on the outside and Accoya® wood on the inside. Unlike aluminum-clad wood windows, the aluminum here is part of the window’s actual structure, not a thin protective layer wrapped around a wood frame.
Each unit is precision-engineered by computer and built by a dedicated OpenUp® team member, backed by more than four decades of experience in window design and manufacturing.

He was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions and we had alot. Our window was shipped to Florida in a crate that was very secure and came with step by step instructions on how to remove it. It was easy to install. This is a very well made product. Openup Windows definitely takes pride in there work and that is very hard to find these days. We are so happy we decided to purchase from this company. And the window arrived on my Anniversary which made it even more special. Thank you Adam!! John SierchioTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We purchased a 96 x 42 inch window with a 96 x 12 inch transom push out window for the bar in our new 3 season room. The window looks amazing and is the center piece of the room. I spoke with Adam several times during the process and he made me feel very comfortable with this purchase. Adam even drove to our home and helped with the installation. I highly recommend OpenUp windows. Reba BarkleyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
