Custom Gas-Strut Pass-Through Windows in Oceanside

A pass-through window creates an active opening between two spaces, making it easier to serve food and drinks while staying connected with the people on the other side.

OpenUp® gas-strut pass-through windows are designed for homes and businesses, including kitchens, bars, pool houses, and indoor-outdoor spaces. Their minimalist framing keeps the focus on the opening and the view rather than on a bulky window frame.

Every OpenUp® window is custom-built to order and combines extruded aluminum, Accoya® wood, insulated glass, and OpenUp®’s original window design.

Awning-Style Windows Made for Serving and Entertaining

OpenUp® combines gas-strut operation with an awning-style pass-through design.

When the window is open, the space becomes a useful connection for serving, entertaining, and conversation. When closed, the minimalist framing maintains a wide glass view between the two areas.

The design can be used in kitchens, bars, pool houses, interior pass-through openings, and other home or business spaces where a more open connection is useful.

Insulated Glass Options for Your Pass-Through Window

OpenUp®’s standard option uses a 1-inch insulated glass unit made with two pieces of 3/16-inch tempered glass separated by a black spacer.

The spacer creates a 5/8-inch air pocket between the panes, providing twice the insulation of a single pane. Argon gas can replace the air between the panes to add more insulating value.

Customized options also include Low-E coatings, laminated glass, and double- or triple-silver soft coatings. For sunny climates and southern states, OpenUp® recommends triple-silver coatings for maximum solar protection and efficiency.

Why Choose OpenUp® Pass-Through Windows in Oceanside?

OpenUp Windows combines a wide pass-through opening with durable materials, custom sizing, and several operating options.

33% More View When Closed

OpenUp® uses custom aluminum extrusions and minimalist framing to create narrow sightlines and a larger visible glass area. Its original design provides 33% more view when the window is closed while allowing more natural light into the space.

Accoya® Wood on the Interior

The structural aluminum exterior is combined with Accoya® wood on the inside. Accoya® is PEFC and FSC certified and described as 100% non-toxic. It has been tested for dimensional stability, durability, and paint retention and grows in responsibly managed forests.

Structural Extruded Aluminum

OpenUp® uses extruded aluminum as a structural part of its hybrid window frame rather than simply wrapping a wood window in a thin aluminum covering.

Manufactured by OpenUp Windows

OpenUp® manufactures its own pass-through windows. Each window is precision-engineered by computer and built by a dedicated team member. The OpenUp® team draws on more than four decades of experience in window design, manufacturing, and installation.
